Another competition that proves how sailing a Devoti ILCA prepares you for your best performance at any regatta, as class legal boats built with passion that allow the skills of the athletes to shine.
Adelaide, Australia hosted the 2024 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship, drawing 153 skilled athletes from across the globe. After six days of fierce competition, Australian Matt Wearn emerged as the gold medalist, while Norwegian Hermann Tomasgaard secured the coveted silver medal. England’s Micky Beckett placed third, rounding out the podium.
The championship featured a grueling schedule of two races per day, culminating in the medal race on January 31. Despite the demanding conditions, Tomasgaard demonstrated exceptional sailing prowess, consistently placing among the top contenders.
“It was a physically hard regatta with strong winds and long races,” Tomasgaard reflected after the medal race. “For me, this was one of the best regattas I’ve ever sailed, and I’m very happy with the improvements I’ve made over the winter, particularly regarding boat speed in specific conditions.”
Tomasgaard’s performance highlights his dedication to continuous improvement and his ability to thrive under pressure. His silver medal at the 2024 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship further cements his status as a top contender in the sport.
As attention now turns to the upcoming European Championships in Alimos, near Athens, Tomasgaard and his fellow competitors will undoubtedly draw inspiration from their experiences in Adelaide. With the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 looming, the stakes are high, and the competition is fierce. However, Tomasgaard’s recent success serves as a testament to his talent and determination, making him a formidable force to be reckoned with in the world of sailing.
Devoti Sailing is very proud to have this talent in its team!
Congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding performances in the 2024 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship!
